Matching Program:
Our matching program through The Claude Worthington
Benedum Foundation and The Greater Kanawha
Valley Foundation will continue through September
2008. All endowed
donations will be matched 50% with money to be given away as
community grants during our annual grant cycles.
Because of this wonderful program, BCCF gave away over $39,000 in
matching funds with the 2007 grants for a total of more than $50,000 in
grants! We anticipate even more to be awarded as grants for
2008. For information on how your
gift can receive a match, contact the Foundation office.
2008 Grants: We
are in the middle of the 2008 grant cycle. We appreciate all the
applicants for their dedication in completing and submitting grant
applications. We also thank our donors for giving to the
Foundation, making each grant a possibility. Award decisions for
2008 will be made in early June. For a complete list of
2007 grant awards, please see our web page
about Grants.
Board News: It
is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth Scott, one of
the Foundation's Board Members. Ruth was very dedicated to the
Foundation, her job, her community, and her family. We will
truly miss Ruth and the friendship and talents she brought to this
Foundation.
A new
Board Member, Gary Sumpter, was elected in January. Gary is a
retired school teacher, past Superintendent of Schools with the Boone
County Board of Education, current Treasurer and Board Member of the
Boone Madison Public Library and member of the Retired School
Employees. We are excited to have Gary and anticipate great
things to come!
