Our Board of Directors and Staff

Harry G. "Chip" Shaffer, III President and Incorporator A graduate of WVU College of Law, Chip is a partner at Shaffer & Shaffer Law Offices in Madison, WV.  He has served as president of the WV Defense Trial Counsel and participates as a member of the Defense Research Institute and the WV State Bar Association.  Chip is also a member of the WVU Alumni Association, the Boone County WVU Alumni & Friends, the Madison Rotary Club and the Madison Baptist Church.  He serves on the Alderson Broaddus College Board of Trustees and the Boone County Bank Board of Directors.  He is Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 289 of the Buckskin Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Emma Byrnside Treasurer Emma, long-time resident of Boone County, is married to Fred "Snuffy" Byrnside.  With a banking career that expands over a 35-year period, Emma  is the President and CEO of Boone County Bank.  She is a member of The Madison Rotary Club and Madison Methodist Church.

Terry Harless Board Member Terry is a lifelong resident of Boone County.  He is the Finance Coordinator for the WV State Department of Education.  A certified Public Accountant, Terry is a member of the WV Society of CPA's.  He serves as treasurer of the Madison Baptist Church and treasurer of the Danville Lion's Club.

Richard Stephens Board Member A Boone County native, Richard is the General Manager of Stephens Auto Center in Danville, WV. He serves as a member and past president of the Madison Rotary Club and the Boone County WVU Alumni & Friends.  Richard is also a current member and past president of the WV Automobile and Truck Dealers Association and a current Board Member of the Good News Mountaineer Garage.

Janet Yeager Board Member A lifelong resident of Boone County, Janet retired as Editor and Publisher of the Coal Valley News  after more than 35 years in the newspaper business.  She is a member and past president of the Madison Rotary Cluh and a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow, serves as a Trustee of the Boone Memorial Hospital, and is a member of Madison Baptist Church.   Janet was also named as a Distinguished West Virginian by Governor Joe Manchin 2003 and Citizen of the Year by the City of Madison in 2004..

Amy Brown Staff A long-term resident of Boone County, Amy is the only paid staff person at the Foundation, where she has worked as the Managing Director for over four years.  Before coming to the Foundation, she worked as a Federal Employee for six years and was a teacher prior to that.  Amy is a member of Bible Baptist Church in Danville, WV, where she is the Director of Children's Choir ministries.  She is also PTO First Vice-President at Madison Elementary  School.
